As old as we are, we recently embarked on a novel concept, but not at all novel to our children/grandchildren, and that is creating the building blocks for our very own website. The first step in embracing this foreign, technological advance, is to peek at all the other LHS class websites. If you can’t conceptualize, than plagiarize! On a very recent field trip to LHS you couldn’t miss the construction underway, including expanding field seating capacity on the football field, or their recently added artificial turf field. Remember those old army barracks, a/k/a the Annex? Well they’re still there, painted in a boring beige color. It appears these durable classrooms now serve as a maintenance facility and have survived the wrath of termites. With the new construction in evidence it was hard to miss the white trim paint at the grand front entrance, which somehow seemed larger when we were smaller. It was severely chipped and peeling. Perhaps someone at maintenance central will spot this and scrape and apply new paint before our 50th reunion, which we’re planning for October 2, 2009 at the Marriott Hotel in Bridgewater New Jersey, just across the street from the Bridgewater Mall. Serving on your reunion committee has been a lot of fun, and the same cast of characters begins gathering every 4 years to strategize the next 5 year celebration of our graduation. We meet and eat together regularly, and share our senior moments, as we emerge from our hibernation, rub the sleep from our tired eyes, and reenergize ourselves swapping stories about our past. You can see and read all about us on the next page. It appears many of our classmates left New Jersey as quickly as possible after graduating LHS or college. They began a series of moves that separated them from the Garden State and made tracking their whereabouts a challenge. We continually reach out to our classmates to join the Reunion Committee, feeling that new blood, or old blood will further stimulate this spunky, veteran group to do an even better job as you’re “Reunion Planners.” ( Much like Jennifer Lopez, in the Wedding Planner) Unfortunately, no new cast members have stepped forward to serve on this “fun” committee, but our welcome-mat remains out there, as we renew our membership drive. As we begin to build and add to our website, assisted by our webmeister Robert Kleinwaks a/k/a Robert Anthony, we welcome your ideas. We want you to share news about your life and family---or humorous, interesting stories you recall from your LHS days. This is your website and we welcome your input. Just send them to our web administrator, Dee, who will input them into the site for all to enjoy. We may look a bit older, but we’re still young at heart, and thinking back to the good old days can only make us feel more like 1959 instead of 2009. Forever young! George Berg |
